And more bacon news...

In a follow up to my post about Bacon Salt and, more importantly the bacon creation at the end of my post, there's this article that appeared yesterday in The New York Times entitled, "Take Bacon. Add Sausage. Blog." The article is really about the power of social marketing and focuses on sites like Twitter, Digg,, and others. Of course the boys just focused on the Bacon Explosion itself.

What is the Bacon Explosion you ask? Well for a mere $20 the engineers of this heart-attack inducing concoction began with, "weaving strips of bacon into a mat...spackled the bacon mat with a layer of sausage, covered that with a crunchy layer of cooked bacon, and rolled it up tight." They then cooked the roll in a smoker and added a nice BBQ sauce glaze before serving. The article stated that the roll contained at least 5,000 calories and 500 grams of fat - it's not for the faint of heart.

The picture and description led to cries of, "OMG that looks good!" One of the boys owns a smoker and I have a feeling that Bacon Explosion is on the menu for this weekend, just in time for the Super Bowl.

Never underestimate the power of the pig to inspire the latent cook in all of us!
