Two Favorites: Cannelle et Vanille and Food in Jars

I've mentioned different food blogs in the past but two I keep going back to is Cannelle et Vanille and Food in Jars. I go to Cannelle et Vanille, more than anything, for the beautiful photographs. Reading the blog is secondary because the photos give such a sense of place and time, telling a story all on their own.

I've also purchased the author's new cookbook, Small Plates & Sweet Treats. At the time I didn't know that it was a cookbook about gluten-free cooking but I'm finding it fascinating. I always want to cook something delicious for friends and family and keeping track of different allergies can be challenging at times. This adds another option when crafting a menu. And as expected, the book is full of gorgeous photographs.

This Saturday the author, Aran Goyoaga, will be holding a food styling demo and book signing at Tatte restaurant in Cambridge. I've been so excited since I first heard about it and I can't wait to go.

I'm also looking forward to see Tatte Cambridge. The original location in St. Mary's, Brookline is a lovely little shop that evokes memories of little patisseries in Paris. A tiny shop which makes the most amazing nut tarts and treats and delicious, artfully presented lattes. This second location in Cambridge is a full restaurant and very close where my office used to be located. When I heard about this second location I was sad that we moved. I can only imagine that their food must be as good as their pastries.

Two recent additions to my ever growing cookbook collection

And you've heard me talk about Food in Jars all summer as I shared my jam and canning journey. I absolutely love that blog and the author's companion cookbook. I've had to slow down on making jam because even with the holidays and the opportunity to gift my jams, I have more jam than I'll ever eat before next season comes around. But the author, Marisa McClellan makes it so accessible to a newbie like me that I just want to try everything. She will be signing books at Kitchenwares by Blackstones on Newbury Street on Saturday as well.

It's going to be a busy day but I hope I get to meet both of these amazing authors. Both authors will also be at the Eat Boutique Holiday Market on Sunday. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it although it sounds like an amazing event.

I can't wait for Saturday!
